I actually was going to say something about the mortuary thing, but I wanted to make the argument that coming back to life would work.

So, if MIB was Jacob's servant the whole time...that could be why he wanted to kill Jacob. To be free of him, to do good (or at least not bad), to stop the games Jacob keeps playing - maybe he is the good guy? And Jacob has everyone snowed - like an evil dictator?
